After a week in sin city that has effectively shortened my life expectancy by a good 8-10 months, and then a few days back in the Bay of doing everything but recovering–there’s no better way to help your body regain a sense of normalcy than getting half naked with a bunch of other people and sitting in an oven and then opening up every pore in your body and just sweating all of Vegas out of you.

I was always curious before as to what a nice steam is like when I was in LA. However the Wooden Center have their steam rooms within the bathrooms, so they were gender specific and as a result there was no “dress code”. The idea of sitting around naked people doesn’t bother me all that much, except the only people with no problems showing their wangs to the world are 70 year old wrinkly pruned men. Now combine this with a little steam and these guys become prunes. Have some pride buddies.

So at 24-hour the saunas and steam rooms are located in the pool area which is co-ed, so while the old prunes may be sitting next to me, they’re at least in their bathing suits rather than their birthday outfits. With the whole point of going to these things to relax, I have to say that it’s a bit easier to calm ones nerves when there isn’t an octogenarian’s one-eyed snake staring me down with his two nutty buddies..
